About the Chilliwack & District Pipe Band
Chilliwack and District Pipe Band (C&D) is a competition pipe
band competing at the Grade Two level. It is focused and dedicated to
continuous improvement while maintaining a balance with families and work. It
plays at numerous local civic functions as well as 6+ competitions per season.
The band is under the direction of P/M Doug Bird, and P/S Darran
Forrest. All of the band leadership has extensive
experience playing in numerous Grade One bands in British Columbia and abroad.
Doug and Darran are past members of the Abbotsford Police Pipe
Band; Darran has also played with the SFU pipe band.
C&D has competed at the World Pipe Band Championships in
Scotland three times; once in 2001, 2003, and 2007. In 2001 the band placed 6th
winning Corby Bowl in Grade 3A out of 25 bands. In 2003 the results were
positive in that the pipe section placed 3rd overall; overall the band was
placed 12th out of 22 bands. In 2007 the band placed 1st at North Berwick and 8th at the World Championships.
The band is planning a major trip for 2010.
